Modal-interaction approach to the strong structural-acoustic coupling of an elastic Helmholtz resonator and an acoustic cavity containing a heavy fluid

This paper focuses on the development of a method for accurate representation strong structural–acoustic coupling between an elastic Helmholtz resonator, heavy fluid and impedance tube. The resonator has wall is connected to tube, yielding system with two acoustic cavities coupled through neck fluid–structure interaction liquid medium plate. proposed analytical formulation based modal superposition in combination lumped parameter model neck. effect evanescent waves taken into account form both inertial attached length terms pressure modes governing equations, which are omitted other methods. field redefined include reflected waves, thus expanding application cavity arbitrary shape. Strong plate accomplished implementation non-resonant modes. Furthermore, improved performance moderately thick plates achieved combined approach Mindlin–Reissner theory mode shapes Kirchhoff–Love equations. validated FEA simulations three different configurations compared applicable results demonstrate substantially increased accuracy predicted response system.
